Alberta Registered Dietitian and Dietetic Technician Requirements

According to Alberta’s provincial licensing board, the College of Dietitians of Alberta, the listed criteria to be completed in order to practice nutrition and dietetics in the province of Alberta are as follows:

  • Completion of an accredited academic education program as indicated by the CDA
  • Completion of an accredited College of Dietitians of Alberta program of practical training
  • Successfully completion of the examination administered by the CDA
  • Continuing education requirements as indicated by the CDA, as well as any additional necessary requirements

College of Dietitians of Alberta
The role of the CDA is to regulate the dietetic industry, protecting both the public and practicing dietitians. There are currently over 900 highly qualified Registered Dietitians & Registered Nutritionists practicing in Alberta.
