Arizona Nutritionist Certification and Licensing

*Do not assume that any schools and programs listed on this site are a path to obtaining the RD credential. For credential information on actual schools that offer programs to the RD credential, view the ADA's official website at www.eatright.org.

Nutritionists across the state of Arizona are increasingly responsible for the state’s impressive nutrition and health statistics. Through the supervision of the preparation of food, clinical and hospital care and the encouragement of people to adopt healthy lifestyles and eating habits, those in the industry are making a big difference. If this is the industry you wish to be in, an application to study at any of the top Arizona online or campus-based nutrition degree programs is for you.

Before choosing your school, Nutritionist-World encourages all applicants to look through Arizona’s registration and certification bodies, including the Arizona Department of Public Health (www.arizona.gov), the Arizona Clinical Nutrition Certification Board (www.clinicalnutrition.com) and the Arizona Dietetic Association (www.eatrightarizona.org).

Licensure is required in both the state of Arizona and on a national level by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). The Arizona Dietetic Association (ADA) and the CDR certify that all RD’s and DTR’s practicing in the state are certified and have completed all necessary education, exams and internships. Certification as a registered dietitian (RD) or dietetic technician, registered (DTR) by the CDR requires the following:

  1. An acceptable four-year degree or higher focused on nutrition science, dietetics or closely related field
  2. Completion of the CDR's registration examination for RDs/DTR’s
  3. Registration with the Arizona State Dietetic Association and state Board of Licensing
