Hemorrhoids and How to Relieve Them
I did not understand hemorrhoid commercials until after my first child was born. Up until then, I had no idea why someone would be so uncomfortable sitting down. Only after the miracle of labor and delivery did I fully appreciate hemorrhoid cream.
In case you are not familiar with hemorrhoids, they are basically varicose veins just inside the rectum or outside the anus. They commonly occur in women during childbirth because of the large amount of pressure that is exerted during delivery. Other common causes of hemorrhoids are chronic constipation, straining the abdominal muscles with heavy lifting, obesity and lack of exercise.
Here are a few suggestions that can help you avoid getting hemorrhoids:
1. Drink plenty of water- Drinking a lot of water will help to avoid constipation. It is recommended that a person drink at least 64oz. of water a day.
2. Eat a high fiber diet- Insoluble fiber, found in fruits, vegetables and whole grains helps to prevent constipation by moving other foods through your digestive system.
3. Exercise regularly- Exercise is very helpful in keeping your digestive system working properly. Regular exercise strengthens the muscles of the small and large intestines, helping them to work properly.
