Vancouver is arguably one of the most international cities in North America. Vancouver and British Columbia’s culinary employment outlooks are excellent through the next five years according to the provincial Department of Labour. After a successful bid for the Winter Olympic Games in 2010, British Columbia has solidified its spot as one of the world’s great regions for commerce, trade, finance and, of course, fine dining and great hospitality.
British Columbia Culinary Wages & Working Conditions
Wages for British Columbia chefs are excellent, as industry demand has continued to rise for the past decade. All forecasts point to increasing salaries as well. The Vancouver Sun recently ran an article about the province’s push to increase tourism even further throughout the state. The article did mention, by the way, that many of the region’s top chefs can make well over $100,000 when they possess the skill, experience and reputation to attract tourism. A degree from a British Columbia culinary school is a great way to get started on this path.
