British Columbia Registered Dietitian and Dietetic Technician Requirements in BC

According to the College of Dietitians of BC, the provincial licensing board, the following criteria must be met in order to become a licensed dietitian or nutritionist in the province of British Columbia:

• Completion of an accredited academic education program as indicated by the CDBC
• Completion of an accredited program of practical training
• Successfully completion of the examination administered by the CDBC
• Any additional registration or area specific requirements that may be necessary

As of 2004, only those that have completed the requirements to become registered with the CDBC may be called by the title Dietitian or Registered Dietitian, as well as legally practice nutrition science or dietetics.

British Columbia Nutrition Council
The BCNC was created with the intent to promote nutritional health throughout British Columbia, to foster the cultivation of nutritional information and to increase awareness and advocacy for nutrition policies and programs in the province.
