Washington State Dietetic Programs

The following programs have been introduced throughout Washington State in order to promote Nutrition and the benefits of Nutrition science to the people across the state.

Each of these agencies can be reached for more specific information.

Center for Public Health Nutrition Located within the University of Washington’s School of Public Health, The UWCPHN is made up of public health professionals and faculty in academia, officials from state and local government agencies, advocates in community and advocacy groups, members of professional organizations, and private health practitioners. Working together, this institute does research and analyses on policy regarding public health practice.

Children's Alliance

Focusing on all aspects affecting children in the state, Children’s alliance works to change policy where it benefits children. Nutrition is a large part of children’s wellbeing, especially in low-income communities or foster care, where these advocates work most.

Department of Health, WIC Services

As in many states, Women, Infant and Children Services (WIC) works to help pregnant women, new mothers, and young children “eat well, learn about nutrition and stay healthy”.

Assistant to health care and healthy living habits for low-income women, infants, and children are given through the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infant's and Children, popularly known as WIC.

WithinReach

Formerly Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Coalition of Washington, and much like the state’s WIC program, WithinReach’s nonprofit organization serves communities in need, focusing on maternal, child and family health.

WithinReach provides programs, resources and information to families and mothers in need of assistance.

WALWICA (Washington Association of Local Women, Infant and Children Agencies)

Begun by former Washington State WIC staff, WALWICA endeavors to spread advances in nutrition and health sciences to the state’s most at risk, low-income women, infants, and children.
