Washington State Registered Dietitian and Dietetic Technician Requirements
Career positions held under the WSDA include Clinical Dietitians (RD), Community Nutritionists, Dietetic Technicians (DTR), Academic Nutritionists and Dietitians, Administrative Nutritionists, Foodservice Administrators and various other Nutrition Professionals.
In the state of Washington, in order to achieve the highest possible quality of service to patients and clients, in addition to maintaining best practices for dietitians and nutritionists throughout the state, a standardized examination and certification process is given.
The set requirements to become a Registered Dietitian in the State of Washington includes:
- Current CDR card
- 4 hours of HIV/AIDS training
The set requirements for a Nutritionist in the State of Washington includes:
1.Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited program in either;
- a. human nutrition,
- b. nutrition education,
- c. foods and nutrition
- d. public health nutrition
2. Seven hours of HIV/AIDS training.
Fees as of August 1, 2008 are available below:
- Application fee $35
- Late fee $20
- Duplicate copy $15
- Renewal fee $20
- Certificate of the CD/CN title (needed for another state) $25
