Alabama Nutritionist Certification According to the Alabama State Board of Examiners for Dietetics, a nutrition or dietetics program is required to become a registered dietitian or nutritionist. Licensure is required in both the state of Alabama and by the national body of the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Certification as a registered dietitian (RD) or dietetic technician, registered (DTR) by the CDR in the state of Alabama requires the following:
